Plutonium is produced in very small quantities when U-238 captures neutrons from natural decay.  But it was discovered only after being produced artificially by bombarding U-238 with neutrons.  And no one knows if it is on Pluto or not, it certainly has not been "found."

"Plutonium is the element with the highest atomic number to occur in nature. Trace quantities arise in natural uranium-238 deposits when uranium-238 captures neutrons emitted by decay of other uranium-238 atoms. "

Uranium is found naturally as its oxide 'pitchblende'. When allowed to react in a nuclear reactor one of the by-products is plutonium. Plutonium is an artificial element first produced by Glenn Seaborg in December 1941 through nuclear fission with uranium .

It is not known to exist on the planet Pluto.

The three trans-uranic elements Uranium, Neptunium and Plutonium are named after the three outer most planets in the Solar system; Uranus, Neptune & Pluto.

NB Glenn Seaborg has an even heavier element named after him ' Seaborgium'.

plutonium is a product that is obtained by enriching uranium with nuclear centrifuges.

The name is a tribute to Pluto. Only synthesized by humans.

      Actually, it also exists naturally.
