Is it cheaper to send a package through mail or UPS?

    Could be either. Depends on the size, how far it's going, etc.

    Often but not always, UPS. And for heavy things that will fit in a flat rate box, post office is usually cheaper.

    Depends.  For some, USPS might be cheaper, for others, UPS.  There's no flat answer.

    Depends on the size, weight, and destination. Flat rate through the mail is usually cheaper if your package is somewhat heavy but small.

    It varies depending on weight & distance. 

    Many use "smart post" where UPS or FedEx delivers it to the local post office who then finishes what is called the "last mile".
