Is there any value in a stolen cell phone ?

I heard on the news of a group of teenagers stealing  people's cell phones.

Yes, if the thief can sell it.

Depends on who's hands the stolen phones get into. For Joe Blow, a stolen phone, is as good as a dead rock in a coma.

To a fast thinking thief, they sell it to the first person who hands them the money they ask for, knowing that as soon as the phone gets reported stolen, it will stop working.

To the person recycling the gold, silver and other metals in the motherboard, one or two phones means nothing, but a truck load can be worth a lot.

There are rare earths in cell phones and China threatened to shut off rare earths. Krogers has a cell phone machine which pays cash.

Sure it is, if you happen to find anything confidential
