What will happen to my service when Sprint and T-Mobile merge?

I'm currently leasing the Galaxy Note9 from Sprint. I have 5 months left in my lease and eventually I plan on having this phone paid off completely. But the Note9 is tied to Sprint's CDMA network and the two are merging so will my service go away when the merger is done or will they unlock my phone or give me a new SIM card to use for the new T-Mobile network.

Nothing for the first year or two.

After that, and even without the merger, the legacy CDMA network will be shut down.

Your phone is compatible with T-Mobile LTE bands and T-Mobile will use Sprint's acquired bands.
