what is a "logistics" environment?

does that mean working in the warehouse or doing clerical duties related to inventory or transportation?

It can be both. Logistics is the process of getting things, like food or raw materials or finished goods, from point A to point B, in the most timely and efficient manner possible. Doing so takes people doing several jobs in concert with one another. That includes the shipping and receiving warehouse folks and the people that make the orders and people that schedule the deliveries, and the people that drive the trucks or trains or airplanes or boats to move the items.

There is much more to it than this, of course, but it can be a very complex procedure is some cases, and not so much in others.
