How might researchers try to find out if warming temperatures contribute to these deaths?

    It is very difficult to do such a thing in an uncontrolled system.  Mutlivariate analysis could identify correlations, but proof of causation is a separate issue.  I am not certain what deaths we are discussing here, so I cannot posit any possible experimental methods to affirm a causative relationship.  If we are talking humans, it is very unlikely that we could perform such an experiment.  Ethical issues.

    Figure out which disease killed the victim, and if the disease was brought by animals, see whether those  animals were absent when temperatures were lower
