It is from Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung), which, is a cycle of four German-language epic music dramas composed by Richard Wagner. It is often referred to as the Ring cycle, Wagner's Ring, or simply The Ring. The part you are asking about is the second of the four parts called The Valkyrie (or in German Die Walküre). The "woman" you spake of is the Valkyrie Brünnhilde, daughter of the God Odin. The song most associated with her is the Ride of the Valkyrie.

You might be interested to know that you are probably very familiar with 'The Wedding Chorus" from Wagner's opera "Lohengrin" as it is often played at weddings when the bride walks down the aisle.

Probably Wagner's Ring Cycle. Wagner was a very popular German composer, in the 19th century. His music is still considered great, but has become a little controversial beginning in the late 20th century because the Nazis promoted it (Adolf Hitler, who was born about when Wagner died, was a fan). Wagner himself was an anti-Semite in his personal life, a fact which got new attention after WWII made anti-semitism unfashionable. He's associated enough with antisemitism that a performance of his work by Israeli conductor Daniel Baremboin in Israel had to be cancelled and one in the 21st century met with wide scale protest.
Wagner's most well known and popular works often dealt with epic stories from European, and especially German, mythology.
