Did KFC and Popeye's both originate in Montreal Canada?

Montreal is a majority black city, so it makes perfect sense.

How could you be so ignorant of the KFC history? Ever heard of Colonel Sanders?

Neither, and no it isn't. KFC was founded by Colonel Harland Sanders who began selling fried chicken from his restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, during the Great Depression. The first "Kentucky Fried Chicken" franchise opened in Utah in 1952.

Popeyes founder Al Copeland's first chicken restaurant was called Chicken on the Run in 1972 in Arabi, Louisiana to compete with KFC. He switched over to a Louisiana Cajun-style recipe and rebranded as Popeyes Mighty Good Fried Chicken. He changed the name yet again to Popeyes Famous Fried Chicken. Eventually they were Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits, before their latest rebranding turned them into Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. The chain is named for The French Connection movie detective, Popeye Doyle, not the cartoon sailor. The Cajun and founding location is French origin similar to Montreal's origins.

About 31% of the Montreal population belong to a visible minority, up dramatically from just 5% in 1981. The most common visible minorities are black (9.1%), Arab (6.4%), Latin Americans (4.2%), South Asians (3.3%) and Chinese (2.9%).

The USA is 60.4% White non-Hispanic and about 16.1% White Hispanic with about 13 to 14% Black overall as a country.

If it originated in Montreal then why is it called Kentucky Fried Chicken.

    • 8 months agoReport

Because Montreal is a black city, and black people eat fried chicken.
