It doesn't matter how you cook it.
It works for both constipation and 'the runs'.
It's also suitable for pets if they are having digestion problems.

Make some oat bran cereal (a heaping tablespoon) with sweetener, turmeric, a little salt and 4 Tablespoons of water in the microwave. Add a pat of butter if that's your thing. It's my bedtime snack.

The food doesn't have to be hot (although a hot cup of coffee can help. It's a combo of the coffee beans and caffeine)
After that, fruits and veggies are great. With most veggies, you want them raw, but corn always works for me. So does popcorn. High fiber cereals, including oatmeal. Don't forget water, either. Several glasses of plain water will always help. Brown rice has fiber in it, but try to under cook it a little. That helps.
Overall, what you want to avoid if possible are dairy products, cheese and carbo type snacks, like potato chips.

You need more fiber in your diet - ie, fresh fruit and vegetables.
