How long should I wait to be contacted for an interview? ?
Just a question, how long does it usually take for an employer to contact applicants for interviews? I applied for a job 3 days ago and the posting closes in 4 days.

It can take up to a month depending on the screening information that they have to go through. Usually depending on the organization, there can be pre-screening where they will take a look at all the resumes, and possibly send you some questions to answer, and then they will do a screening stage where they look a little bit closer at how your needs meet their needs, then they will bring you into meet with the Human Resources, and then if you pass this, at this time you will likely meet with the manager of the department or area that you have applied at. After this, they will likely have you do some of the things like typing, software skills etc. Then they will do references. Hope that this helps you!

Employers can take what seems like forever with contacting applicants these days. They do a lot of ridiculous, un-necessarry screwing around. They could start contacting people for interviews at the end of the week or they will take their grand ole time going through the resume's and applications they received and not start contacting people for interviews until 2 weeks or more from now. There's no way to tell.

Depends on the job you're applying for. Some employers can take weeks to get back to you, while others can take a few days. If it's some thing like fast food or retail, usually it takes a few days for the employer to contact you.
Keep applying to other jobs while you're waiting, in case you don't hear back from them.

I would be busy applying at more places for work.

You keep applying...there is a chance you wont get a call at all.

You don't "wait", you keep applying for other jobs. And an employer can call for an interview an hour after they get your application, or a month. A few days to a week or two would probably be more common.

Sometimes it take a few days to weeks, depending on how in demand the job is. Also if it is a well known company, they probably get a **** ton of applicants and they have to read through them. Just be patient. They will most likely start contacting people after the posting closes just so everyone has a chance to apply. Good luck on the job!

You don't wait. You keep applying to other jobs. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket.
To answer your question: there's no predictable time frame for when an employer might respond to your application.

One day to never.
Keep applying for jobs until you get one.

You probably won't be contacted until after the job closes, even then it could be a week to two weeks after depending on the position and the quality of applicants.
