Did Diana, Princess of Wales and Sarah, Duchess of York have any ladies-in-waiting after their divorce?

Or did Diana and Sarah have salaried assistants?

After their divorces, the women were no longer part of the official working royals and they did not have ladies-in-waiting. Diana's sisters would accompany her at times when she did make visits to charities after her divorce.

Ladies-in-waiting are part of the office staff that are paid through monies earned for that purpose from the Sovereign Grant or the Duchy of Cornwall.

  • Ladies in waiting basically are salaried assistants - but ones who work for royalty. Since they lost their HRH status, I guess Diana's and Sarah's ladies in waiting had their PDs amended to say private secretary or housekeeper or suchlike.

No. Diana’s maids were given to Mrs Camilla Parker Bowles.

Sarah’s maids stayed with her to help clean and dress her.

They had salaried assistants, not ladies in waiting.

Diana’s staff was dramatically downsized after the divorce, but she got to keep a few key players, eg a chef, cleaner, and dresser. Only the Queen has ladies-in-waiting.
