Have you litter trained them? How is he supposed to know where to and not to go to the toilet if he is not properly litter trained

Rats naturally like to be clean, so they will try to stick to one area or a few various areas. Put a litter tray with some rocks inside (and safe litter) and they will start to use it themselves. Please make sure they have two cubic feet per rat, and they must not live alone

    Because rats poop indiscriminately.

That's why they sell those little round exercise balls for rodents...you put them inside and they can run around without mussing up the carpet or getting lost.

You can try wrapping him in a little cloth while you hold him.

Its a mechanism that all rodents have acquire over the years

Any way to get him past it? I hate getting pooped on every time he gets held 😂
