How come people don't like it when the person they've wronged is apologizing to them?

Let's say a person is intentionally or unintentionally being a jerk towards someone and the other person would apologize to the "jerk" for doing something that is upset them, how come the "jerk" doesn't want to hear them apologize to them?

Also how come the "jerk" doesn't like it when the other person is trying to explain their true, well meaning intentions?

That's much more complex to answer than you would think, but the quick answer is because nobody likes their angst to be appeased in such a way that it highlights their misgivings!

Why would the person apologize to the person being a jerk. That's just weird.

    • because the person feels they might have done something that has upset the other person who was being a jerk and wants to show them no hard feelings.
