Socialism is part of communism. What makes it communist is dictatorship instead of democracy.

We are discussing democratic socialism, which is working well all over the world, and those people have a better lifestyle than we do. They may have free school from preschool through college or a chef cooking meals for school kids or a school system with no homework. Italian workers get 8 weeks of paid vacation per year BY LAW and American workers get ZERO. Why shouldn't we have better lives?

You assume they have a better lifestyle. The reality is they pay a much higher tax rate to pay for all of those "free" things.

Communism, (common ownership) Everybody owns everything. [thus, nobody owns anything]. You have all seen the signs on public parks or highway property. "No Trespassing, State (or city) property".

Socialism, like communism, calls for putting the major means of production in the hands of the people, either directly or through the government. Socialism also believes that wealth and income should be shared more equally among people.
