Just how low an opinion did people hold for Hillary Clinton that they felt compelled to vote for Donald Trump instead of her?

I base my opinion on hard facts not "feel good" platitudes. As a result I voted for Trump.

It was pretty low for Clinton, now we know Clinton would have been 10 times better, they had to elect the idiot, and have 3 years of his reality TV mouth and tweet and now we all know.

Obviously not as much as America who preferred Hillary over 🤡OTUS.

You can thank Russian interference for that. Poisoning her reputation, and lying about her, turned people against her. 70 million voters stayed home. But they will out in droves in 2020, now that they are aware of the dirty tricks.

I remember watching interviews of people who were expected to vote for Hillary but voted for Trump.  As you said, they felt compelled to vote for Trump because of Hillary's short comings.  They cited things like her failure to address protecting American interests, the problems of illegal immigration, etc.

Actually MORE people voted for Hillary than Trump, about 3 million more.

    Trump is a MINORITY President.

More states and more counties within those states voted against her though. This is why we have the electoral college for the national election, So huge population states don't get to dictate to the rest of us.

Not as low as it became when Obama had to call the Swamp Queen and tell her it was time to concede....and then the ensuing temper tantrums and victimology book tours only helped lower it even further...

Very low.  And here's the thing, Democrats KNEW IT.  In 2008, they nominated a back-bench freshman Senator from Illinois who had accomplished nothing in congress over her.  Hillary had more money, more experience, more accomplishments, a higher profile, and more connections than Barack Obama who was running largely to raise his profile for a future run (as one does).  No one expected Obama to beat her in 2008.  And she lost fairly decisively.

So Democrats themselves didn't want her in 2008.  They chose a nobody over her.  Now, that choice looks great in retrospect given that he went on to win two general elections, but at the time, no one knew what to expect from Obama.

So then for all of the best Democratic candidates to step aside and clear a path for her in 2016 was incomprehensible.

She had no campaign and majority wanted Bernie Sanders, it's that simple.

Hillary was the absolute worst candidate democrats have chosen in their history.
