How many points does yahoo deduct for a question they see as inappropriate?

The normal system is 10 points per violation and another 10 points if you appeal and lose the appeal.

First of all, users report content in violation of the rules. They are subsequently removed from the site once enough users report them.
Second, abusers lose 10 points for the violation and an extra 10 for filing a false appeal.

Any user that has a post that receives enough reports (flags) to get it removed, loses 10 pts. No human eyes see the removed posts, unless they are appealed (it's all automated). Just having a post reported doesn't trigger a loss of any points (the post has to have enough reports to get it removed from the display). Some posts get MANY reports and don't get removed, so the person who posted it does not lose any points (even if it IS a violation).

Yahoo doesn't "see"
if a question is reported due to reports, asker loses 10 points. If the asker appeals and loses, (s)he loses another 10 points

You will have 10 points deducted if your post is reported. I never saw anyone have 20 points deducted. Points and Level blog also says 10 points, not 20. Even if you appeal and lose they have not taken the 10 points by using the help menu to appeal.
I hope that helps.Source(s): Used the help menu a number of time to appeal.

10 points, but sometimes it has deducted 20 points. Enough people have to report the question or answer before it triggers computer programs that remove the question or answer from the YA display, deduct the 10 points. It is also suppose to trigger email programs to send you either a report notice or an violation notice email so you could appeal. However, its been more than 2 years since those emails have been sent out except very sporadically.
