Yes. My uncle was a cop who worked with the coroner and he was told this by the coroner over 30 years ago. Heart attacks run in the family on the male side and so he started taking one each day. He had a heart attack like his brother and father but the difference...he survived and went on to live into his 80's. The only thing you must be careful of--aspirin can cause bleeding in the stomach. If you have digestive issues, use with caution.

People  who  Eat  with no concern over   cholesterol  and  fats    who are  older  (middle aged or  older, people who have  family histories  of  similar issues may be  prone to  Arterial Plaque   (GOOP in you  arteries)  Aspirin  when taken under a doctors   care  (long term)  can   reduce  the  Blood  Platelets from  getting  sticky  and  helps  reduce   the plaque  as well...  A  Stroke is  a glob of Plaque   that  runs  through the  artery Until   it becomes  stuck  (and  yes IT will   since  the  Arteries   go from the  Aorta   down to  capillaries Back up to  the largest Vein   The Vena Cava  so  goop / plaque    as well as  Blood clots  soft or  crustated   will break away,  and  go to the point it gets  wedged   Blocking blood flow in the cells of  That Area  causing  Pain  as  the cells are starved  of  oxygen....   SO   keeping your  cholesterol  down (LDL and  Tryglycerides)  and  Trying to  raise  the HDL or good  Cholesterol  is  smart  as is  exercise (keep things  moving  and  circulating  and   Aspirin  to help  keep The  Platletts  from   becoming GLOBS  that catch more and more and  more  plateletts   causing   Blockages   aspirin  can  also  cause issues  Like   burning  the stomach lining and causing  Ulcers so  any  time you  Have  bloody  stool or   Barf up blood   They need  to know  so  you dont bleed to death  that way This is why  you  do it  while your  doctors   monitor   your  progress and  health

They make the blood thinner so clots are less likely to form.

They don't know for sure. They have changed their minds 3 times in the last 5 yrs on the specifics of it. It helps a little (like 17%) in some people while increasing the risk in other people prone to bleeding.

Aspirin, which thins the blood and thereby prevents clots, is currently used to reduce the long-term risks of a second stroke in patients who've had an ischemic stroke. But giving aspirin to patients who've had a hemorrhagic stroke is considered dangerous, as it can cause more bleeding and more damage.

Thins blood therefore attempting to make clots that make these tragedies possible smaller and less likely to kill you or cause damage so yes.

While daily aspirin can help prevent a clot-related stroke, it may increase your risk of a bleeding stroke (hemorrhagic stroke).
