2(7x - 5) when x = 5?

How do you solve this?

    Replace the x with 5.

    2( 7[5] - 5)

    2( 35 - 5)

    2(30)

    = 60

    2(7x - 5) when x = 5

    2(7(5) - 5) = 2 (35-5)

    ...............= 2 (30)

    ...............= 60.............ANS

    Replace 7x with 35 and so 2(35 - 5) = 60

    Just replace the letter x by the number 5. You get

    2(7*5 - 5) which is just easy arithmetic

    2*[35 - 5] = 2* 30 = 60

    This is called substitution and you can do it.
