Will the world be a better place if there is only one country on Earth?
A planetary wide nation ruled by a ruling council composed of representatives from different parts of Earth. It’s like a mix of the European and UN,

I don’t know. It might work. If it brought tangible benefits to everybody with little over all control. But I suspect people themselves would first have to give up bigotry, greed, prejudice and all manner of human vice to make it viable. The problem is the human condition. We live in imperfect or flawed societies, because we ourselves are flawed. Having said that, structural inequality, general unfairness, class division, money, vested interests, perpetuates the system. Or conversely, the system does nothing but feed on human frailty to sow division.

It was tried a long time ago by Nimrod. Instead of going into all the world as God told Noah's group, they stayed in one place and built a tower up toward heaven called The Tower of Babel. At that time all mankind spoke the same language so God came down and gave many languages so those who spoke the same language would go off in different groups. Giving great power, like world dominance, to a small group or one man will always make slaves out of the rest of us. Not a good thing - history has proven this time and time again. But like your question, man never learns.

There is no country in the world which can be accepted by their Citizens as the best place. Similarly No State, No City and no town is considered as the Best Place on Earth by their residents. Even no family, even the families of the Presidents of the most powerful countries can claim that they are fully satisfied with whatever they have. Hence, it is impossible to imagine for a situation where all would say that now this world is a best because problem is not outside, it is in the human minds.

You can take people out of the tribe, but you can not take tribe out of people. Deep in our bones we are tribal beings, yet we've evolved too much and can't go back. We need a NEW tribe – for our times

So long as there was regional autonomy, it would be much better for things like AI development, climate change, research, eradicating nuclear weapons, corporate taxes etc..

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. History shows that countries with exceptionally great power over their citizens deteriorated to severe horrors. Witness the holocaust and the Spanish inquisition.
