    Not even close.

That's what cults do to torment anyone who chooses to leave the cult.

The suicide rate within the jehovah's witnesses is far higher than the national average.

Jehovah's Witesses not only kill their own kids by refusing them life saving blood transfusions, they kill their own kids by suicide because of shunning them.

    It's a disgusting cult.

The Bible commands Christians: Quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. 1 Corinthians 5:11.

Is this Bible law harsh and demeaning? When a hardened criminal is sent to prison for breaking the law, is that viewed as harsh or coldhearted?

No, because the public has the right to safeguard the peace and security of the community.

In effect, the criminal is disfellowshipped from law-abiding society during his prison term.

Similarly, the Christian congregation is justified in expelling unrepentant wrongdoers from their midst.

Why? Because the congregation must be a haven from immoral predators and other willful practicers of sin.

Realizing that one sinner can destroy much good, the apostle Paul commanded fellow believers: Remove the wicked man from among yourselves. 1 Corinthians 5:13

This action prevents the sinner from spreading corruption in the congregation, and it protects the congregation’s good name.

    2 John 9:11

Everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him.

We are not supposed to let people who have committed serious sin into our churches (or remain in them), much less to teach or speak in church, but we are supposed to let our light so shine and minister to their needs so that they may come back into the fold after sincere and complete repentance.

To Juli: If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it. A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly.

Like very many things in the Bible, it depends on how you interpret it. That is why so many denominations exist in the first place.

Shunning is a Biblical directive. Paul's 1st Epistle to the Corinthian Church describes a shunning, and Galatians 6 speaks of restoring a man to fellowship. I've never heard of a JW being restored to fellowship.

    Source(s): 1 Corinthians 5, and Galatians 6:1

Yes.....Fact is the bible tells Christians to shun all people that teach cult doctrines, like the LDS and Jehovah Witnesses.

    2 John 1:10-11

If anyone comes to you but does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your home or even greet him. Whoever greets such a person shares in his evil deeds.…
