What does the urine test on FAA medical exam (all classes) check for?

Does this test just check for kidney issues, or does is also check for illict drugs as well? Does this differ between classes? Ive ready varying opinions on this.

They look for two things, first is something that would make it too dangerous to allow you to fly. As an example, if your urine is full of sugar then you have diabetes that is out of control. If you are not being treated for it, you get grounded. Second is drugs. They are not going to let you fly if you take a long list of drugs. Pot is one, narcotics is another. Only an idiot would show up for a urine test with drugs in their system so if you have them, besides the drugs they know you are an idiot.

It's a medical screening for kidney problems and diabetes, not a drug test.

Drug testing is normally conducted separately.
