Perhaps opal mining is still a thing in places like Coober Pedy and Alice Springs. The problem with having a job is that you actually have to work.

Working holiday visa limits you to short-term occasional labor. Most is restaurant, customer service, warehouse, and farm work. With a 6-month limitation on any job, no employer will consider you for anything requiring any investment in your training, because they cannot & will not keep you on very long.
