What's compassionate about helping Latin American refugees here rather than in Mexico? It costs 5X more, suffers a language barrier and...?
...subjects taxpayers to exploitation of our judicial system my self-absorbed opportunists.
It's the worst LOSE-LOSE in the modern world.

I guess for some an overcrowded detention center with AC and cots is better than living in a tent in Juarez or TJ. But this isn't about "compassion", it's about saving the US some of the billions it's spending housing foreign nationals who mostly have bogus asylum claims. Turns out Mexicans don't protest these conditions for Central American migrants the same way some Americans do. Out of sight, out of mind.

There will never be any change in these countries, e.g. Honduras, Guatemala, even Mexico, as long as people think they can come to US & get on the welfare gravy train. If they have to stay in their own country, they have to do something about their country.
Instead of hiring smugglers - associating with criminal rings - they can better use their money right in their own home.
Instead of allowing people to break the law, enabling disdain for the law & for the rights of citizens & the breakdown of civil society, they need to start by creating a civil society in their own country. Destroying one country does nothing to help some other country, or its citizens.

AND, if Mexicans are so law abiding. Why aren't they asking for asylum there ? Or the other 5 countries they pass through ? The liberals are always saying these are good, law abiding refugees. Yet strangely only want to come to the US.
