# If the diameter of a circle is 34 inches what is the radius?

Oh come on - the diameter of a circle is twice the radius of the circle.

Divide 34 by 2.

Source(s): Radius is half the diameter, therefore 17 "inches". Multiply by 2.54 to get the radius in centimetres. The metric system is used worldwide, even in the U.K.

The radius is the distance from the center of a circle to the edge.

The diameter is the distance across the circle (through the center).

So obviously the radius is *half* the diameter.

34/2 = 17 inches
