Oh come on - the diameter of a circle is twice the radius of the circle.

Divide 34 by 2.

The radius is 43.18 centimetres.

The radius is the distance from the center of a circle to the edge.

The diameter is the distance across the circle (through the center).

So obviously the radius is *half* the diameter.

But how much easier to learn 10 mm in a centimetre, 100 centimetres in a metre, 1000 metres in a kilometre. Especially when the prefixes are transferable to other forms of measurement also.
