In NYC, official classroom teachers and paras have the summer off with pay. This privilege does not include sub teachers. What do sub teachers do in your state to earn a living during the long summer months?

Teachers (in most places) do not get paid over the summer due to federal tax regulations (many place used to spread their paychecks over the 12 month period which is not long legal). But, some districts will assist by taking some money out of every paycheck and giving them a paycheck or 2 over the summer. You can do the same thing. Have you bank automatically deduct a certain % of each paycheck into a separate savings account and then go to that account in the summer.
