why is mass shootings seem to be rising while our gun laws are getting more strict.?

I am totally up for doing whatever is necessary to stop these shootings. But it is very clear that we have the strictest gun laws ever now yet mass shootings are at there highest. I was told gun control would decrease these events or stop them all together but its getting worse, why??

Because most of our gun laws are state or local laws.

Well-enforced, nationwide gun laws that apply to an entire country, not just some cities or states, do decrease shootings in countries that have well-enforced, nationwide gun laws. Unfortunately, we aren't one of those countries. Most of our gun laws apply to only individuals cities, states, or zones, which is why they don't work.

Our gun laws are not strict. We have some of the least strict gun laws in the world.

Because we don't have "more strict" gun laws. Our gun laws have, mostly, gotten weaker over the last twenty years or so. In 2008, for instance, the conservative majority on the Supreme Court invented out of whole cloth an individual right to own guns, in rejection of over 200 years of American jurisprudence. Even before that, gun laws have gotten weaker and weaker. The assault weapons ban, which had worked to significantly decrease deaths from mass shootings, expired in 2004. Since then I don't believe that any federal gun control legislation has been passed. Meanwhile, Republicans have been hard at work rolling back gun regulations in states they control. For example, in 2015, Ohio, where one of the recent mass shootings happened, Republicans passed a law repealing a ban on large capacity magazines, like the 100 round drum magazines which the Dayton shooter used. Numerous Republican states have passed laws loosening not only what types of weapons you can get but how you can use them. Many states have passed expansive concealed carry laws. Texas passed a law which forbid most businesses from barring people with guns. Florida, notoriously, passed the 'stand your ground' law which allows people to essentially commit murder when they experience a subjective threat. It's been used successfully to avoid prosecution in tons of sketchy cases including gang members having gun battles and a guy leaving a situation and returning with a gun before shooting someone. Many states which have passed laws are seeing progress. There's not a lot of mass shootings in New York, for example, which passed a law banning magazines with over a ten round capacity. We haven't had a mass shooting in Connecticut since Sandy Hook, in part because the state banned assault weapons. But nationwide it's getting worse because our gun laws are getting more lax.

Nothing has been done to make the gun laws strict. Semi-automatic guns are still legal, and the screening process is severely limited.

Mass shootings are rising because Trump promotes hatred and riles up the extreme right with fear-mongering.

Are they getting more strict? Maybe, but Trump was right about one thing (maybe the only thing he was ever right about): We really do need tougher background checks, especially for those that want to buy semi-automatic rifles such as the AR-15.

I'd like to see background checks tightened up, and then see if mass shootings go down.

Would you be willing to outlaw social media? I guarantee that without social media, this would be a much safer world in which to live. Would you agree to have a crime infested neighborhood blocked off, and have everyone leave through a metal detector, while 100’s of cops confiscate drugs and guns? How about making penalties much stiffer for using a gun in a crime. Or ten years minimum for being caught with an illegal gun?

Once again, most of these are staged cover-ups (yes, all 6 last week)

...why do we have to remind you?

They seem to be rising, because society is falling apart. No sense of personal shame, embarrassment, humility, and a sense of personal responsibility.

Add to that how the media fixates on each mass shooting ( at least the ones that fit a particular political narrative) picking it apart in minute detail, 24/7. It gives the nincompoops the fame they are looking for.

You need to get rid of the guns to be safe. Facts like that should dominate the discourse.

They are not real... the liberals are staging it and hiring actors to pretend that they are victims.
