Are there 36 million books on how to get rich?
If you assume a millionaire is rich:
According to Credit Suisse's new Global Wealth Report 2017, there are now 36 million millionaires in the world -- a 170% jump in total numbers from the year 2000.
Not a very exclusive club but better than paycheck to paycheck.

a) you can only be rich if there's a lot more poor people because b) being rich involves exploiting poor people and c) one way to get rich is to sell poor people books on how to get rich (see Trump "University") and it works because d) being rich isn't as simple as reading a book.
Most rich people came from money in the first place - having money affords you multiple opportunities and insulates you from loss. You can only pull yourself up by your own bootstraps if you have boots to start. And you're going to be willing to take bigger risks if you're not worried about how you'll pay rent this month. Rich people can blow a few million on a high risk, high reward venture. Poor people cannot.

Its takes alot more than reading those books. SOme of those books may have some good ideas (others may be junk) but even still reading the books is just the first part of the problem.

Because if things were really as easy as the books make it sound, we'd all be rich. You can learn some valuable things from a book, but the motivation has to come from within you. Along with the hard work and the refusal to quit when the going gets tough. Books don't do that for you.

Actually there are a lot of "rich" people although how you and I define rich might, and probably does, differ. I suspect that those people who buy those types of books have more money than those of us who don't since those books usually give good advice on how to manage the money you do have and people who read the books put the advice into practice. Not everyone flaunts their money.
To me a person is rich if they are retired with no bills, home and autos paid for, money in the bank to cover emergencies and are able to do the things they enjoy doing.

Why would someone write a book about how to get rich? Why not just use the information and get rich yourself and not have to write a book?

Because talk is cheap.
