Is it possible to renege on accepting a job offer?

Particularly if the job doesn't start for some time (two months) and you need to make money before then. Also, everything was all verbal and no signed deals or contracts. Say you got a temp job inbetween and liked it more or an interview with a better company with higher pay.

Im also nervous they could do the same thing since nothing is set in stone.

Thankfully, ive just driven for Lyft in the meantime. But, i turned down some better opportunities. Im just wondering "what if"

Update:

what consequences?

Of course. Just as long as you're willing to tolerate any possible consequences.

Of course. It happens. What are they going to do? Come to your house, handcuff you, and drag you to the job?

If you didn't sign a contract, you can do whatever you wish. However, if the job is in a field that's your regular career, you might end up being badmouthed to other people with whom you work or could end up working.

Yes you can. Without a contract you are free as a bird. That being said, word does tend to get around if you are a flake who goes back on their word especially if you work in particular fields. If you live in a big city and this is not a professional job, no worries.

No. You signed a lifetime contract. SMH.
