    Diagonal:

    (16^2 + 26^2)^(1/2)

    = (256 + 676)^(1/2)

    = 932^(1/2)

    = 2 sqrt 233

    = 30.5286750449...

    diagonal = √(16² + 26²)

    You can do the math.

    Square 16 and Square 26. Now add the two and take the Square Root.

    256 + 676 = 932

    Square Root of 932 = 30.5

    16" = 40.64 cm, 26" = 66.04 cm

    diagonal = square root (40.64^2 + 66.04^2) = 77.54 cm^2

    I don't know how to calculate it in caveman units though.

  • I assume that you want the length of the diagonal of a rectangle that is 16" x 26".

    diagonalsquared = 16squared + 26squared
