    L² = (17 - 15) (17 + 15)

    L² = 2 x 32

    L² = 64

    L = 8 inches

    A rectangle has right angles so we know that 15sqrd + Lsqrd = 17sqrd

    so L = 17*17 - 15* 15

    L = 8

    Using Pythagoras it is 8 inches
