Plan ahead! Get everything you need to have with you, in your carry on. Definitely things to help you be distracted and relaxed. I do not do liquor or drugs on the plane - unless it I from NY to Europe. in FC, and they serve a nice wine with dinner. I have lots of podcasts, etc.loaded on my iPhone - I do not watch movies, etc. because my EYE get tired and I get a headache - but lots of people do watch them. Make sure that when you stow your overhead bag, that you have remembered while waiting in the airport, to put all the things you need during your flight, in your hand bag/tote etc. Aggravating to have just the good book you wanted - locked over head! Sleep as much as you can - it will make the trip go faster, and you will arrive with more energy. Drink LOTS of water, and get up every single hour to walk - the grumpy people you climb over will be the ones to get leg cramps and DVT (deep vein thrombosis - had it - on drugs the rest of my life - but mine was from something else, no planes). The very very few planes crashes we hear about are either OTHER COUNTRIES who do not maintain and check the planes like we do, or small planes flown by their owners - who THINK they know it all. Absolutely the safest way to travel - and that little surge when you take off is NOTHING like a roller coaster - not even a kiddie ride. Maybe a fast elevator in a skyscraper - but only last a few seconds. take earplugs for your ears when landing - I am one of those who gets earaches - you are probably fine, but HAVING them is always a comfort. Enjoy your ride - LUCKY YOU!!!
