Could I become an interpreter?

I'm 22 years old and a native English speaker (I live in the UK.) I have started to learn Hungarian and have become interested in a career as an interpreter. I know it takes many many years to become fluent but I am very dedicated and enjoy learning. I didn't study languaged at GCSE or A Level and have not been to Uni. Would it be impossible for me to become an interpreter or translator? I'm really interested in it but would just like to know if it's a realistic career.

I wonder how much demand there is for that. Id probably point you to something with better prospects.

Probably not a huge call for Hungarian,<->English interpreters. Maybe Chinese or Arabic
