What are your thoughts? Do you have a moral right to own guns?
Emphasis on MORAL right

I have the moral right to do anything that doesn't harm anyone else. Owning a firearm, or multiple firearms, harms no one. Yes, I have the moral right to own a firearm, or multiple firearms, if I so choose.

I don't think you mean moral right: Moral rights are rights of creators of copyrighted works generally recognized in civil law jurisdictions and, to a lesser extent, in some common law jurisdictions. [Dictionary]
I think you mean natural rights, there is one list of these:
Article 1 Right to Equality
Article 2 Freedom from Discrimination
Article 3 Right to Life, Liberty, Personal Security
Article 4 Freedom from Slavery
Article 5 Freedom from Torture and Degrading Treatment
Article 6 Right to Recognition as a Person before the Law
Article 7 Right to Equality before the Law
Article 8 Right to Remedy by Competent Tribunal
Article 9 Freedom from Arbitrary Arrest and Exile
Article 10 Right to Fair Public Hearing
Article 11 Right to be Considered Innocent until Proven Guilty
Article 12 Freedom from Interference with Privacy, Family, Home and Correspondence
Article 13 Right to Free Movement in and out of the Country
Article 14 Right to Asylum in other Countries from Persecution
Article 15 Right to a Nationality and the Freedom to Change It
Article 16 Right to Marriage and Family
Article 17 Right to Own Property
Article 18 Freedom of Belief and Religion
Article 19 Freedom of Opinion and Information
Article 20 Right of Peaceful Assembly and Association
Article 21 Right to Participate in Government and in Free Elections
Article 22 Right to Social Security
Article 23 Right to Desirable Work and to Join Trade Unions
Article 24 Right to Rest and Leisure
Article 25 Right to Adequate Living Standard
Article 26 Right to Education
Article 27 Right to Participate in the Cultural Life of Community
Article 28 Right to a Social Order that Articulates this Document
Article 29 Community Duties Essential to Free and Full Development
Article 30 Freedom from State or Personal Interference in the above Rights [U. of Minnesota, see source.]
So at least one source considers ownership [Art 7] and security [Art 3] as natural rights. So one can argue that gun ownership for personal security reasons is a natural right.
Note there are other lists, but they are all pretty much alike. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are typically included in the natural rights lists for example.

A moral right by what authority? If you're asking if I find gun ownership sinful, I'd say no, unless it were against some law of the land.

Yes. Defending yourself and your family is moral and having a gun is a good way to be able to do that. What is you thought about having a moral right to get an abortion?
- kathy_is_a_nurseLv 71 year ago
Yes... I consider being able to protect myself, my loved ones, and other innocents in trouble to be a MORAL right.
- marsel_duchampLv 71 year ago
That makes no sense. Please define what you mean by "moral right". The only thing I find is the right an originator of a work of literature or art has over the use of their work.

Free men bear arms
Protecting your family is the highest form of morality
- regeruggedLv 71 year ago
Yes. Clearly the founding fathers considered the right to be inalienable.
