A question for fellow Christians. How will Earth Survive When the Sun Becomes a Red Giant?
- FunnelwebLv 72 years agoFavourite answer
The Bible teaches that this Earth will pass away, so we don't need Earth to survive.
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."
2 Peter 3:10-13,
"10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness."
Jesus said, (Matthew 24:35),
"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."
"And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."
"39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world."
Matthew 28:30, "... lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."
"Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting."
And St Paul said,
Ephesians 1:21, "... not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:"
And St John said, (1 John 2:17),
"And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
So the destruction of the Earth by the red giant sun is no problem for genuine Christianity. Whether this earth is swallowed by the expanding Sun, or destroyed by an earlier event will make no difference to those who are saved, as they are living on a new heaven and a new Earth presumably in the spiritual realm. It is only a problem for Jehovah's Witnesses, who falsely believe that eternal life will take place on this Earth.
Note that scientists foresee that the Sun's rising temperature will make Earth uninhabitable between 1 & 2 billion years from now, and when the Sun engulfs the earth it will have been lifeless for billions of years.

I doubt you're a Christian, dear one.
Anyway, the Bible prophesies a new heaven and a new Earth. Earth might be suddently translated through space to a new home -- that might explain the prophecies of the earth reeling like a drunk man and the stars "falling to earth."

According to Isaiah 45:18 it shows that God didn’t create the earth simply for nothing but to be inhabited.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

“You, Lord, in the beginning created the earth, and with your own hands you made the heavens. They will disappear, but you will remain; they will all wear out like clothes.
"You will fold them up like a coat, and they will be changed like clothes. But you are always the same, and your life never ends.”Source(s): Heb. 1:10-12

Couldn't tell ya. Maybe you should be asking this question in the Science section, not the religion section.

Actually those not Raptured will be extra-crispy.
Revelation 16:9 King James Version (KJV)
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

After the short season of the 2nd Resurrection God will roll the universe up like a scroll so that only His Kingdom and it's super righteous followers is immortal .

Earth will have been gone for a long time before then. Do you not read the history of the future, the last book of the Bible?

It's never going to become a red giant. God will sustain the sun for all eternity, just as he will sustain the earth for all eternity, he created them.

It won't. The heavens and the earth will dissolve, being on fire and the elements will melt with fervent heat. The earth and the works which are in it will be burned up. Read 2 Peter chapter 3: towards the end.
Last time God judged us, everyone but 8 people were drowned with water, but next time God is going to use fire He said (2 Peter 3:7)
