You don't appear to have had any Muslims so far so that part was somewhat unsuccessful. The sunnah is that Muslims are supposed to keep their beards and trim them only paying particular attention to the area above the top lip so that the speech is not affected by excess. Many consider the beard as optional but many also suggest it is obligatory. Unless there is a significant problem i.e. you have eczema, dermatitis or a similar skin condition or you are engaged in warfare which requires protection against chemical or biological attack a Muslim should keep the beard. It is a symbol of unity and identity and should be maintained if at all possible. However and here is a possible saving grace for many .. in these most wretched of days as Muslims are targeted by extremist anitIslamists it is permissible to do whatever is necessary, within reason, to protect yourself from recognition if you feel you are at risk in the community. That is all really and is my understanding of the sunnah and Islamic Law though I stand to be corrected as it is my opinion.
It should also be remembered, of course, that every cut, bruise, blow or threat will bring reward for it if these are done to you for no other reason than you are a Muslim, i.e. as long as you are NOT an aggressor.
