Why do so many people think Keanu Reeves is a bad actor?
Neo was a shy and serious guy, he cared more about business and cutting things to the chase. Neo wasn't very good at scenes that required him to express emotions, that was the point. What would you be like if you were a loner-hacker who discovers his entire world is a lie. A man who loves sticking it to the man as a hacker, but discovers he is little more than a slave?
In Dracula he is formal and reserved man.
Keanu definitely is not the best, he's mediocre/average at best. But he's not the worst.
He is a decent enough actor to be able to fit into so many diverse roles so well.
Many actors exaggerate their characters giving us generic people, Keanu avoids this well.
Look at Will Smith. He is one of the best actors ever, but that is because he plays the exact same character in every movie. The big headed, wise guy, black dude action star guy. Keanu is a little decent at every role.
I can see Keanu being a shy nerdy guy, serious doctor, dedicated lawyer, goofy stoner, laid-back skater boy, action hero, serious kung-fu teacher/student, rich and formal gentleman, etc. I can see him pulling off all these roles perfectly.
But pretty much every A-list actor can only play one character.
