Do the rights of man stem from a reasoned philosophy?

Are are they derived by escaping the state of nature through a social contract.

In other words, who do you agree with, Hobbes or Kant?

    The rights of man stem from the rise of a middle class. Once people have a sense that they will be able to provide food and shelter for their family for the forseeable future, only then to they begin to worry about their quality of life.
