What are cars similar to the Mazda miata?
I'm looking for a first car and I'm gonna get something that is used. Around $10,000. I've checked out miatas, s2000's, and solstices. My dad doesn't want me to get anything german made as he owns a few mechanic shops and knows they're expensive to repair(I'm stool open to suggestions). So what are some other similar cars?

Well, there's the Honda Del Sol.
And the Toyota MR2.

I agree with your dad on German/European cars.
I will add that the Solstice and the Saturn convertible are also not very reliable.
Honda Del Sol
I was never impressed with the Del Sol or the MR2. Friends had them and they just didn't last.
Go for the Miata. It's a great car and has HUGE reliability ratings.

The Miata's direct competitors in the U.S. are the:
Indirect Competitors are the Honda S2000, Porsche Boxster, Mercedes SLK, BMW Z3 or Z4, and Nissan 350z convertible.
If your dad has owned a few mechanic shops, he should know how to fix german cars. $0 labor. The labor is expensive with German cars. The parts, barely more expensive than Japanese parts.

Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice (out of production, parts will get expensive and hard to find )
Toyota mr-2 (out of production)
Honda S2000 (expensive)
BMW M-3 (expensive)

Not many other options. Toyota MR-S/MR2 Spyder is about the only other car I can think of. The BMW Z3 also.

Other than those only the rare Toyota MR2 Spyder.
