z = square root of (x^2 + y^2 +1)

z= (x^2 + y^2 +1) ^ (1/2)

∂z / ∂x = (1/2) (x^2 + y^2 +1) ^ (-1/2) 2x = x(x^2 + y^2 +1) ^ (-1/2)

∂z / ∂y = (1/2) (x^2 + y^2 +1) ^ (-1/2) 2y = y(x^2 + y^2 +1) ^ (-1/2)
