the poet................................... c/c?

the poet

I am a balloon

distracted by gravity

and insecurities

of skin too thin

to withstand

tethered by a

string of humanity

I float just

out of reach

of reality

the ground draws me

a forensic outline

of my descent

Lovely, thoughtful comprehension of a state of a poet.

Many fit the 'balloon' analogy; others would prefer to be analogous to eagles and doves, or even butterflies. After all, what ever goes up has to descend down, maintaining the chance to be forensically outlined..

    Enjoyed the read..

I was going to say....what about the Ms Rights out there? but it sounds too much like miss-write. you can kiss the mirror then Jill! great piece exemplifying what you are looking for. I totally agree with you too. It would take a special poet partner to capture your heart. I admire your work.

    Is often considered an airhead.

    No, I quite liked this.

I loved the idea it gave me, and the simple strength that is in some many (or so few) words got to me.

    Lovely, really just.

I have never heard a crime scene outline called a forensic outline. I found the term confusing and inaccurate.

    I play

    as a boy

    from all balloons

    I chose the one

    tugging hardest

    just to feel

    for a moment

    that tug

    then released

    as men do not play

    with balloons

    as men

    do not play

    at all

    then why this balloon

    in my hand

    chosen

    not for tug

    nor shape, size

    nor color

    but for words

    read on it

    I play
