Free edition of Avast and Avg Both donot provide any extra features than a simple anti virus. They don't come with any anti spy ware, anti spam, or Fire wall But there general Features do differ. Let me explain in detail. No1. Avast anti virus has Boot time scan facility which makes it a better option when system is affected as You can remove virus before it starts functioning. This make Avast antivirus as the better option. No2. Avast anti virus have kool user interface with two skins. No3. Avast has scan preferences for you, I mean you can select whether you wanna take a quick scan or a detailed scan or medium scan. So i think you should use avast antivirus. AVG antivirus is also famous but you shoul try it's anti rootkit Free to keep your systems away from rootkits(Rootkits are malicious programs which hide them self from the operating system and prevail ).

The best anti-virus is Kaspersky or Norton but they are not free. Kaspersky does offer a free online scan but it doesn't remove what it finds. Second best free are Avast and AVG and others. The Microsoft firewall that comes free with XP and Vista is quite good but unfortunately provides no visibility. If you need visibility, try the free Zone Alarm. Zone Alarm is very good but it is difficult for me to say it is the best. The best firewalls are not free. You have phishing filters in Firefox 3 and IE 7 and IE 8 (Smart Screen Filter) and AVG. It's strictly a question of how often the phishing filter database gets updated with accurate information. It's tough to say which is best.

I have been a user of AVG and I know from experience that it's a good anti-virus program. I've been a user of that anti-virus since 07.

If you need a free antivirus program, I would recommend that you try using Microsoft Security Essentials, which can be downloaded from the link below.

In addition to running frequent antivirus scans, I would also suggest that you run frequent antispyware scans.

If you need a free antispyware program, perhaps you should try using MalwareBytes, which can be downloaded from the link below.

Also, perhaps you should try using Mozilla FireFox, which is a browser that is safer than Internet Explorer and can be downloaded from the link below.

Good luck and I hope I helped you!
