Just some thots on your question. :)
Everyone has a part to play in saving planet earth and of course, women can be the significant party. The reason is simple, we tend to be buying things every other day with a higher quantity in comparison to men.
For example: Grocery shopping, shopping for fashion, purchasing of packed food for the family, purchase of family necessities (i.e. baby supplies and what nots), disposal of unwanted items, etc...
Am not saying that men do not do the above, but on a smaller scale.
Eco friendly efforts:
- We can consider the materials used for the items we want to buy. Are they eco-friendly? Should we support the non- friendly products, are there alternatives? (i.e. hairsprays Vs Hair wax).
- When the merchandise is at the cashier, we can choose to use our own bags instead of the plastic bags available at the stores. Or better yet, prolly the stores are being eco-friendly too, supplying eco friendly bags that can be re-used numerous times.
- Enough of purchase and down to disposal of unwanted items. The mode of this action is rather crucial, rubbish is being buried or burnt when it gets to the center. Hence the need to segregate it, we can be more proactive to it.
- Recycling of fashion items. Sometimes, there is no need to purchase that many clothes, bags and earrings. We are creative females :), there is always a way to do some arts and crafts to create an individualistic piece of fashion which others will die for.
In short, women are able to contribute significantly and not succumb to consumerism. Cut down on the buying on impulse and let your creative juices flow... all these to have a better tomorrow.
