Traditionally from my culture you have big weddings. It's a joyous occasion and something the whole family and all friends partake in. Strangely enough, my father is the one that is pushing for us to have this huge wedding. He looks at it as an occasion where he can call the entire family and everyone would gather. We live abroad and for him it would mean a great deal if he could gather everyone for my wedding. Money wise it's no problem. But for us we it's more important that we are surrounded with the people that are close to us and that we love. To be honest most of my family I don't know. I have no attachment to them. My fiancé feels the same way. We were thinking about 50 people, tops. My family is thinking around 400-500 people. I want to make my family happy but it's our day, right? I talked to my dad and he said: "I know that most of these people are strangers to you. But no one will ever care for you like your family. People only gather like this for weddings and funerals. And given the fact that your brother will probably die alone I would rather they gather for an occasion such as this. Would you please consider it?" What would you do in this situation?

  • Can we do this?

Best answer: Do a courthouse wedding and invite just your closest relatives. When he gets a break plan a big party. This isn't just for emotional reasons because as a military spouse you have a lot of perks a boyfriend/girlfriend doesn't get. Better to make it official for official reasons sooner than later.

Her condition is worsening over time. She often travels abroad for treatment but there is no cure available. My dream would be to have her fulfill a role in my wedding but at the same time I know it would be hard for her to commit and will be added stress for her on the day if she would not be able to make it. I don t want to feel left out in any way but at the same time I don t know what to do... A maid of honor or bridesmaid role is a big commitment and the witness role will need to be established from beforehand. Hard to have someone as backup. Please help.

Hi I'd just like some opinions. I'm trying to decide if I want the traditional diamond engagement ring or if I should do something a bit more unique by going with a precious gem such as Aquamarine. Its going to be a circular stone with a halo of diamonds around the main one. I have 2 friends who decided to get an Amethyst wedding ring and a Sapphire wedding ring instead of the classic diamond. However, my concern is that if I go with the more personalized gem stone, I'll wish I had stayed traditional. Or if I go with the traditional diamond, I'll feel like its too cliche. What do you think? Thank you

I've known this group for 11 years. Both me and my fiance have tried talking to this girl multiple times throughout. If it's not interesting topics, like celeb stuff, she walks away. Her & her future husband are normally use to being the leader of the group. Since we've moved 5 yrs ago, the group hasn't talked as they normally would have...except ever since the couple took this seminar. They've only been talking to all us again because of the program, despite my prior attempts to reach out. She recently told my fiance how lazy he was and how he needs this $3K+ program because , and her words, "[your] clearly not enough motivation for him." I know I can't get mad because this is coming from a girl who has cheated on her spouse and obviously needs this program. They canceled their wedding a month b4 but still went on their honeymoon & their bachelorette/bachelor parties (wasn't invited or told). For her engagement party, I flew in without a "Hi", "Thanks" or "How've you been?" the whole night. We celebrated the Holidays after our engagement & wanted to celebrate with friends by giving them hand-made gifts while they locked themselves in 2 rooms among 33 people just to do blow. She made out with 2 guys, only admitting it when she was going to get upset that he had a stripper's number in his phone; That doesn't include the 3rd guy when he was studying abroad. She told me my job as a woman was to convince the man to do what is necessary & I'd be the reason for his regret.

Meaning, is it normal to feel unsure of everything as far as where your at in life with your SO and where you are going? I've been feeling very uneasy these last few weeks and I have no idea why exactly. I'm finishing my junior year of college this month and it's got me thinking about everything else in my life, primarily my relationship with my girl. We've been together almost 5 years and it's been great. We've been through a lot and it's all gone by so quick. We've never had a long vacation or crazy getaway and since starting college it's always been work and school. We live together and our home life isn't much different and we just do the same thing day in and day out. Recently I've been trying to figure out where I see everything going in the future and I get those feeling that times just slipped by. I have no crazy stories about wilding out, or about chasing girls or anything. Part of me wishes I had experienced that or had at least done more. I'm basically married as it is and it's bothering me the more I think about it. I love my girlfriend and even writing this I can see how blessed I am to have the life I have, I just can't stop thinking about experiencing more. Is this normal?

My son Charlie is 19, his girlfriend Evie is 18, they’ve been together since they were 13, almost 14. Recently Charlie has approached my husband and myself, saying he wants to marry Evie and has asked if he can propose to her with the ring that his grandmother left him in her will which my husband currently has. We’ve told him that we need to think about it. Evie and Charlie currently live in a my mother in law’s former flat that my husband inherited, and they pay us rent for it. Evie is currently in school studying to be a nurse, while Charlie is studying to be a vet. The pair of them have been together through thick and thin and it is very clear that she cares deeply for my son. She’s been through some pretty traumatic things as a child and he’s been there for her, helping her through it even though he didn’t have to, especially when she has a nightmare over it and lashes out in her sleep. Now as much as I think they were suited for each other, I don’t think it’s appropriate for them to get married. They’re both too young to get married. They’ve only dated each other. My husband thinks I should keep out of it, but I think they’d be better off waiting until they’ve both settled into their desired careers. He’s just so head over heels with her that I know he’ll think I’m interfering and trying to break them up.

I’m not against that music but it doesn’t seem like wedding music to me. I want something a little more updated but not necessarily new. I like a little of everything too but I’m going more torwards country type music or some of the newer pop type music for the wedding. I’m opening to listening to different songs and suggestions from any genre and any era. We need songs for the entire wedding from the entrance to our guests to the end of the night. So please if you have any suggestions for any specific dance like our first dance or father/bride dance, or for the recessional or anything. I need any and all serious suggestions please.
