  • I have never had my wisdom teeth taken out, I'm 27, because my Orthodontist said I "didn't have too" when I was 11. Should I take them out?

Best answer: I'm 35 and still have mine. My dentist isn't concerned but told me to let them know if they start causing issues or if I start getting infections. I may be a case where they never have to come out. Not everyone needs them removed.

  • Got a cavity filled but it still feels like i have a cavity?

Best answer: Your mouth is most likely uncomfortable and sore, if that feeling stays the same for about 1-2 weeks I would considor going back to the dentist to have it looked at.

I have swollen gum around one of my teeth and I'm stuck between the idea of having it cleaned professionally and taking antibiotics or waiting for it to heal on its own. Will I lose bone or something at the dentist? Could anyone please explain? Does a root planing and taking antibiotics cause any irrevesible damage?

I just got my braces on June 12. In May I had my second bicuspids extracted, so there's a gap between my first bicuspids and my first molars. For my first appointment, they put the brackets (no metal bands) on my molars but only placed the wire as far as the gap, so there was no wire on the back eight brackets. I've been trying really hard to stay away from bad foods, but I messed up one time a week in and didn't realize carrots were on the no-no list. My boyfriend (who'd had braces) pointed it out when I was about four or five baby carrots down and I stopped. My braces seemed fine then, but my ortho pointed out that the glue could fracture and then the bracket would pop out at any time. Later on that week, I woke up and the bracket on my top left first molar was gone... I'd swallowed it in my sleep. I had only had the things on for a week and a half, I felt so awful because I must have really ****** it up to break a bracket so soon. Fast forward to this morning, July 12, one month with braces on, and I woke up to a loose bracket on my top right second molar. I opened my mouth to yawn and it fell off. Luckily I could catch it and spit it out, so I didn't swallow two. Because these are both brackets that aren't attached to wire, I figured that I don't need to call in or get them fixed right away because they aren't affecting the way my teeth are shifting. I am concerned that two fell off in the first four weeks... with all the glue (none left on either tooth). +

My insurance doesn’t cover sedation so it will be done with local and I will pay for the laughing gas. My doctor prescribed me .25 mg tablets of klonopin to take before hand but I know that won’t be enough. How long about will the procedure take? Some people have said it could take 2 hours and some say only minutes. I need some advice please.

I have been feeling a slight soreness in this area of my gums but didnt think it was too serious. I'm dreading going to the dentist because I went in 2013 and they said I had a lot of cavities.(16 or 17 but not big ones) This was mostly due to bad eating habits. I would eat a lot of candy and stay up late playing video games then go to sleep without brushing my teeth until the next morning. I was to embarrassed to go back to the dentist to have them fixed and now I think will have to anyway. I pretty much continued the same habits up till now except not eating as much candy and I brush my teeth more regularly. I haven't had any serious pain but am extremely self conscious about going to the dentist.
