How do ballet dancers stay so thin?

    Favourite answer:

Professional dancers probably eat more than the average person. But yes, they burn so many calories it keeps them thin.

There is also what's known as the "ballet body". Ballet works particular muscles in particular ways that tend not to "bulk you up" and give a very lean, toned appearance. So if this is a person's main source of exercise, even if they aren't dancing professionally, they might be more likely to look thin in comparison to a soccer player or something.

There is also the unfortunate fact that ballet prefers naturally thin bodies. Girls who are naturally thin, have naturally broad shoulders, naturally toned, naturally flat-chested, naturally flexible bodies are preferred in dance. They receive a lot more encouragement from teachers at a young age because they are naturally built for ballet. They are often said to have more "potential". So it's also probably true that lots of ballet dancers just happen to be naturally thin people.

How do ballet dancers stay fresh throughout hours of classes?

This is probably a weird question but I’ve always wondered how ballet dancers can dance for hours every single day and not smell awful or feel self conscious while they’re dancing so closely to or with another dancer. How do they stay fresh and not smell bad throughout the day after all that hard work?

Should Trump found the Vladimir Putin School of 🩰 Ballet and Dance 💃? As a patron of the 🎭 arts should Trump fund it?

There is obviously a need for a world class academic program in dance to teach beautiful ballerinas?

Where should he build it? Which college should he build it at?

There needs to be a place to train beautiful dancers 👯‍♀️? Hopefully at a republican run school?

    Dance teachers/professionals ?

Do you believe BALLET dancers should train in other genres other than ballet? I mean as a way to compliment their ballet technique/training and make them 'more hireable'

Were you taught what to do when pulled over?

    Favourite answer:

I don't think my parents taught me.  I was told by somebody somewhere along the way not to reach for anything (license, reg) until specifically asked for it. And I think it's common sense not to argue.  I was pulled over one time in the middle of the night, and had to wait about 15 minutes while the police officer waited for back up.  I had no idea what was going on, and was completely freaked out.

Actually come to think of it, I do think my mom told me to drive to the police station instead of pulling over, but I've never done that.

Difference between dance teacher, dance instructor, and dance choreographer?

So... I taught at a summer intensive one summer, it was paid. I taught the students a part of a hip hop choreography each week.

    Well?

Have you ever tried dancing/watching an ethnic dance? How was your experience? What did youfeel adter watching it?

    Favourite answer:

Was part of a Lithuanian Dance Troupe, and performed on stage and TV for a number of years -- hard work, learning the steps and variations we used on the various dances.

It was a lot of fun when we finally got the whole working.

Our group took part in a huge ethnic festival -- there were some 100 different groups, all performing the same dance at the same time, with 10 or so regional variations, but the dances even had the various groups mix as well, and it was great to see how we could fit in with the large professional groups as well as other amateur groups like ours.

Also did Scottish folk dancing, but that was as an individual -- once one got the basic patterns straight, it was great.

Overall, folk dancing is great to do or watch -- but you do need to understand the patterns as well as the footwork to appreciate them.

Note: In the movie "Sound of Music", the captain and Maria were doing an Austrian folk dance. It's amazing how many people manage to learn the traditional steps and patterns -- try it some time.

Covid cancelled my prom, what can I do to get over it?

My prom was completely cancelled due to corona 🦠 and now the school told us we don’t get a prom.

The kind of dancing seen on dancing with the stars is so elegant and I really want to see that kind of dancing in real life.

I will likely never get the chance to attend a prom and I really want to experience being there to see the elegant dancing at least somehow?

What can I do to get over missing prom?

What is the life of a professional dancer like?

My daughter is 13 years old and she recently told me that she wants to dance ballet professionally. She has written down her goals and asked to audition for summer intensives next year. Also, she told me that by the time she is 15-16 she would have to be accepted in a ballet company. I can't deny that this conversation has made me extremely anxious. What is a dancer's life like? How much will it affect her teenage life as well as her adulthood?

Am I too old to be dancing in my room?

    Favourite answer:

Dance is therapeutic. It limbers your muscles and joints. It releases positive endorphins and you feel happy and ready to take on your tasks and responsibilities.

Old women dance. You are only 32, with a room of your own and no one  to snicker at you.

    Dance!

Why do ballet dancers cut little holes around the heel & the toes of their tights?

    Favourite answer:

    Mintchips49 is correct.

Just a small addition to that. Some dancers wear convertible tights, and cut an additional hole where their heel is. This is usually done if a dancer is worried the heel of their pointe shoes might slip off.
