• Was I being disrespectful towards this girl who I knew from school by sending her this private message on Facebook?

Best answer: It's FAR too much information.
She really wouldn't want to know all that stuff!
That's the sort of thing you might share after a few months of being in a real, face-to-face, close relationship with.
But it was totally inappropriate to tell her all that after a very little contact.

  • Co-worker keeps complaining after each phone call she has to deal with after?

Best answer: She obviously has zero people skills nor charm. Don't you just hate it when people do that?! Do not a knowledge or agree with her. Do not make eye contact with her. She seems like a horrid example of a customer service rep.

Best answer: It's improper because you have the information and the original sender does not have to re-send it. You are supposed to understand the issue and proposed solution and how to implement it. You summarize the issue in short phrase-bullets, and summarize the proposed solution in your own words to your manager. You need to assure action will occur. Who is supposed to fix the problem? You are tasked to see that the issue is fixed. You can forward the reply you have and note "See attached for details". It's not a social environment about rude. Nobody is being insulted. It is about running a business efficiently and with actions. It is inefficient to ask the sender to re-send. It is shirking responsibility to expect others to do your job. You asked for assistance, received the assistance, and now complete your task.
You are asked to analyze why, by your manager. If you want to advance, you aim for 100%.
What is the issue? Why did it occur? How does it get fixed? What actions will prevent it from occuring again?
If fix is in process, when will it complete?
Take the pieces you can now do, and recommend what you can about the rest. It is about the who - what - when - where - why - how question set of a problem and the double corrective action of fixing the issue and preventative measures.
If you only do a piece, then recommend the additional actions.

Keep in mind that one great way to get promotions and pay raises is demonstrating you can do more than specifically asked. You are allowed to bring in necessary experts and advice.

I have a really hard time keeping it clean, so I'm wondering is it necessary to have a squeaky clean room when guests are over? What if he thought I was a gross slob?

So I went to the office and was handed over an email I replied to last Friday. It turns out that the email was already past 4 hours. I got mad thinking that my officemate intentionally didn't answer it and just waited for me. I sent a message to the whole group about how upset I am. When my officemate found out about the message and how upset I was, he got mad too. We explained our sides but it felt like it's not resolved. Should I apologize?

  • Why do people all the sudden become extra nice to you when you're giving them the silent treatment?

Best answer: because when someone's silent and possibly upset, being nice to them lets them know you are still on their general side too even if you specifically disagree with them on something. Lot of people aren't good with managing their emotions, and are socially clumsy. To be frank, people need help socially sometimes. Waiting for everyone to reach a bar whose height is meant for everyone is what doesn't make sense (e.g. waiting for them to apologize or admit they were wrong, things like this. For some people this can take months, some people will never admit it which will create permanent distance in a friendship that's annoying if the two people can't forget about it), you meet people somewhat where they are. Sometimes this means being nice to someone who is mad perhaps for no reason at all or is mad for an undeserving reason. I'm not hear to argue about the merits of either approach by the way, I'm just answering the question in one way.

So today my boss calls me into his office and closes the door. He said "We need to talk about an issue I have with you." And of course I am freaking out, racking my brain. I nod and he begins to explain to me that his girlfriend is extremely offended I did not say hello to her this morning when she was sitting in his office and it has caused him a ton of grief today. He said that apparently, everytime she has visited, I have never said hello to her. I apologized and said I had assumed she was a customer and that when i had entered his office, i had assumed i was interrupting either a job interview or discussion with a customer, so i just gave him some paperwork and left. I had no inclination to say hello because I was busy.... working. He was quite fired up about it and I was taken aback by this. Is it really appropriate to take me aside into his office whilst I am on the clock to discuss something that isn't work related? His girlfriend seems a bit unstable to be this upset about me not saying hello? He told me I am expected to say hi to her from now on everytime she comes in. Should I speak to him further about this or just let it go?

Him and his brother both had cancer and they are both in their early and mid-60's. His brother still has cancer and is not continuing treatment for it. I made a statement about 61 years old being too young to pass away. My ex-husband said that's not true, most people pass away at the age of 65 years old. I couldn't believe he said this as I explained that most people in my family lived to be past 80 years old. He says that the retirement age is set at 65, because many people pass away at that age. That seems outrageous to me. Do most people really die that young overall?

  • What is an okay amount to give a 13 year old for a bar mitzvah?

I recently went to a friends brothers bar mitzvah held at a restaurant with a dj. The gift I gave was $25, but searching more on bar mitzvahs, the amount most people give is $50. Was $25 too little to give for a bar mitzvah for someone you don’t know well?
