  • Is it safe to leave my AA batteries on my external flash? I typically use the flash once a week.?

Duracell batteries, as well as any of the high capacity alkaline cells, love to leak. I'm trying out Panasonic batteries (lower capacity than Duracell) for things that sit around for a couple years and haven't had any leakage issues, however, the experiment is only two years old.

If using good quality NiMH batteries, they seem to be very robust. I haven't had any leak on me in the past 10 years. I leave my NiMH batteries in my flash and flashlights without worry.

  • Are there any Cinema (Cine) lens out there that will fit a Canon Rebel T5i DSLR?

Best answer: You aren't shopping for a specific camera, you are shopping for a lens mount. In this case, Canon EF or EF-S. Any EF or EF-S lens, from any maker, will work on your camera. Don't cripple your searches by putting in the camera model, all you need is Canon EF to find what you need.

  • Recording using a camera and plug in mic, but no sound comes out when I play it back?

Best answer: Most likely you fell into the trap of buying an electret or condenser mic, both of which need power, either from a cell inside the mic itself or "phantom", which the camera is unlikely to provide (some do, though). A dynamic mic needs no power and should work with your camera without any difficulty.... show more

I have to applaud you for experimenting first ---
most people start shooting video with no thought at all for audio problems,
then when they find they didn't get any sound
they come here crying their fool heads off about it.

There are other brands like B+W and Heliopan which are arguably superior filters, but no one in their right mind would consider them to be "cost efficient." You could easily spend more than $1,000 on a set of Heliopan filters. An 82mm ND filter cost about $350.

There's also variable ND filters, which on a cost efficiency basis, would likely be the clear winner. Considering that sometimes you need 1 stop, sometimes you need 4 stops of ND. Having one filter that can provide anything from 1-10 stops would be very cost effective. Here's a link to B&H showing all of the variable ND filters on the market today: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/varia...

There are videos on YouTube that review and test variable density filters. Not all are great, and spending more doesn't always mean you're getting a superior filter.

  • Polaroid on a plane?

I’m going on vacation in a few weeks and I’m taking my Polaroid camera. What are the chances I’ll be stopped while going through security to look at the film, and if I don’t ask them to check it by hand, will the x-ray they use damage it? It’s ISO 800 film.

  • Is it possible to take good firework photos with the Polaroid onestep 2?

    Best answer: No.

    It would be impossible.

For good fireworks photos, you need a camera with manual controls,
or a simpler one that has a "fireworks" setting.
