• Can I pay a big hotel bill in cash?

I am going to Las Vegas for some "business", and I called the hotel to check how much the bill will be. The bill for the full 7 night stay is about 42 thousand dollars (42,000). I have the money in cash but I do not own any type of cards. Will the hotel let me give them 42 thousand dollars in cash?

  • Have you ever been to Las Vegas? Isn't it the most amazing, most exciting place in the world?

Best answer: I've been many times, and I like it a lot. But I wouldn't say it's the most amazing, most exciting place that even I've been to, so I certainly wouldn't suggest that it's the most amazing, most exciting place in the world. It's fun, it's exciting, and there's a lot to see and do. show more

I work overseas on a rotation basis (i work 4 weeks on and then have 4 weeks off) and I would like to rent a unit to spend my 4 weeks off in Vegas. It's quite difficult to find any advice on how this may work if I don't have social security / a US bank account etc etc. I am not going there to look for work, just to spend some long term leisure time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • What kind of transportation do they offer in Vegas?

I don’t want to rent a car and seen they have “public” transportation AKA the WAX bus or something. I’m staying at the Golden Nugget but wanna travel to the strip and the Las Vegas sign.

Taxes are lower in Nevada. No state income tax, low property taxes, and the sales tax for locals does not make up the difference by no sales tax in Oregon.
Average apartment rent in Las Vegas is $952/Month at 937 sq. ft. and in Portand is $1,420/month at 753 sq. ft.
Although data varies, Portland cost of living is about 35% higher now than in Las Vegas.

Heat doesn't bother me as much as cold weather. Daytime winters in Las Vegas are warmer than Portland.
For activities and things to do, it is personal preference. There is enough to keep entertained in Las Vegas. I don't enjoy hiking or camping at all so have little desire for outdoor forest activity.

Portland has a car traffic and congestion problem.
    Worldwide
Portland #40 highest congestion with average work commute time 50 minutes
Las Vegas is #314 in congestion and average commute 24 minutes
For commuters on average is an extra hour a day available.

Booking.com and Smartervegas.com are fairly good, and if you want to play with the Trivago site, watch the bottom line numbers as those daily fees do not easily show and other fees get hidden.

That said, Circus Circus is good for the on site entertainment for the kids.
Mandalay Bay - Wave pool has a 48 inch minimum height for kids and they do not tend to allow people from even sister hotels to use the wave pool. Summer is starting in Las Vegas and Mandalay Bay does have a great wave pool and lazy river and aquarium and is much nicer in decor than Circus Circus.

There are other interesting choices. The Elara is non-gaming attached to the Miracle Mile shopping mall with Planet Hollywood in front on-strip. Their one bedroom has a projection TV. The living room has a sofa bed and bedroom one King. There is a full kitchen and adequate space and looks nice. Their pool is nothing special.

The Mirage is a good family choice. The volcano show erupts nightly starting at 8 p.m. A 20,000-gallon saltwater aquarium and the tropical rainforest atrium that has waterfalls, a lagoon and lush foliage. The on-site Cirque Du Soleil show is Beatles Love, probably better for a little older depending upon their maturity. Terry Fator as ventriloquist, Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat, make the Mirage fairly family friendly overall.

The Excalibur has The Tournament of Kings jousting dinner show, the Fun Dungeon arcade, and accomodations in a medieval-style castle which is interesting to most kids. The hotel has not kept up wth renovations and is only a 3 star rating now. Circus Circus courtyard rooms are a motel in back and overall they also are 3 star are sacrificing for the kids. I would opt for the tower rather than courtyard at Circus Circus.

The MGM Grand’s Backlot Lazy River and pool is fun for the whole family.

I was like, 5. we stayed at the Imperial Palace, which is no longer there, and my parents complained the entire time that it was "gross", and that they wished we were staying at The Mirage, where my dad went every year for the consumer electronics show for work. I was confused, as the room was nice and clean and all, and when I asked them what was "gross" they wouldn't tell me. it's only now occuring to me that they might not have meant literal cleanliness. sprry for the long question, Thanks!

You need to check the prices at booking.com as an easy site, though Trivago works if careful about the fees and not just choosing the cheapest shown rate.
    Here is the 2018 guide
    https://www.lasvegasjaunt.com/las-vegas-...
Rates vary tremendously by which date and you have to say the date to get help.
As I checked the night of Tuesday May 15th, booked now, America's Best Value, at 167 East Tropicana Avenue, shows
$33.15 + 13.38% tax = $37.59 as a no resort fee property. It is about 1.5 miles from Terminal 1.
The typical low price hotel/motels range $45 to $60 a midweek night.
Silver Sevens shows $26 or $27 plus $21 resort fee plus tax getting to $55
There is a free airport shuttle to and from Terminal one every hour 4AM to 9PM
They are about 2 miles from the airport.

It is about checking bottom line rates and distances.

    You should not walk.
