I really want this job so I don't really want to leave a bad impression with the employer. If my symptom get worse and I have to reschedule it, would that reflect negatively on me? I don't want my employer thinking that I am faking for any reason.

I’ve been with this employer for 5+ years- it’s retail and my store has a high turnover rate so that means I’ve literall been there longer than any manager. Long story short, during my annual review I was told my management and my corporate supervisor that I would be getting a big raise effective on a certain date. A month after that date had passed I found out I was not getting paid was I was promised- I asked them about it only to find out that it wasn’t approved by corporate HR and no one bothered to inform me about it. They said it wasn’t approved because store management felt I needed to improve on my communication skills, but when I asked them what specifically I neeeded to improve on they had no idea what I was talking about and said that they never said that. HR still won’t give me the raise I was promised so I’m wondering if threatening to leave will help or not- me leaving will definitely hurt the company (this year alone I’ve already saved them over $200,000 while I only get paid about $32,000- they also constantly have employees from other stores call me so I can train them). My threat would be real- I can go do the same job at any other retailer and get paid significantly more than I do there- I am positive I would get hired if I applied based on my experience. I would prefer to stay with my current employer, but I want what I was promised to me. Should I threaten to leave or not?

I work in a very small tense office, with 5 other women. One of the other women has been micromanaging, bossing me around, telling me what to do, I find her quite patronising. One day, I got really upset- my manager didn’t really do much, sent me on my way to the doctors, I got put on antidepressants and referred to occupational health and that was the end of it. Anyway, I get on well with another girl in the office and we are quite chatty about our feelings towards her. Whenever she walks out of the room, we talk about how tense we are feeling as her mood always changes or how snappy she is being.... a lot of the time it’s how the atmosphere is shocking. Yesterday, the girl over heard us? I said ‘have I done something wrong?’ And my colleague said ‘no, not at all... maybe she’s hormonal don’t take it personally’ and I said ‘well I feel like I have bexause yesterday when my doctors were calling me she was telling me to pick up the phone and I said I couldnt’ my colleague then said ‘well it’s ok for her to wait for a dog kennel... don’t worry about it’ She ran to management and HR quoting everything we have said, so we were pulled in for a meeting. I don’t think this is quite fair, I have raised my feelings before and got put on medication and management didn’t raise it further. But as soon as she runs, we get pulled in formally. I’d like opinions!

I have worked at this particular fast food restaurant for a total of 2 years ever since I turned 16. Initially, I didn’t mind the work environment since it was a job but throughout time everything had gottten worse. I’ve been working my *** off of minimum wage without any sort of compensation! Every day had only seemed to get worse and worse, especially, with the new manager. He is a total piece of **** for numerous of reasons but mainly because he always talks **** behind me and my coworker, he has favorites and allows them to call in whenever, and because he is always on my coworkers’ and my *** most of the time. As previously stated, there is more but I’m trying to minimize them. Even before we got off the wrong foot, I had told him why I hated the job and explained to him what I would like to change and he’s made false promises continuously. I don’t expect to receive anything from him or the store but to only seek for the best possible and legal way to get revenge on him for making my last couple of months hell. I am not worried about making him as a reference for my next job because my coworker is a supervisor and he understands and has made work slightly less stressful. I plan to quit by the end of the month and haven’t given my two weeks notice not do I plan to do so.

I didn’t ask to get diarrhoea, especially on such an inconvenient day!! I don’t want to be in their bad books for something I couldn’t help. I feel annoyed at myself because it’s just my luck.

But I do think I was best dressed for an interview out of all of them. I wore something similar to what the 2 managers were wearing. Two people turned up in a light blue denim jacket. Another in a denim blue skirt and a plain black tank top and there was another one in a tank top as well which is something I would never wear to a job interview. It was for a retail store and the retail store dress code if u get a job there is business casual. So would they consider what u wear as part as the interview?

For a bit more info I rushed into getting a job straight out of uni and I’m really not enjoying it. I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression on and off for a few years now, and my job is in sales which I realise now just isn’t good for someone like me. The thought of picking up the phone and making cold calls and invariably being rejected while I’m there just seems almost unbearable which in turn means I’m no good at my job. I dread going in and get no satisfaction from my job once I’m there. In short it’s making me miserable. I know it’s my own naivety for accepting a job that I was clearly never going to be good at, although the job description was a bit misleading, particularly labelling it a ‘graduate’ job. However, would it look really bad if I packed it in after just a couple of months? I have a 2.1 in history from a Russell Group uni so hopefully I’d be able to find something more suited to me, although I’m not sure what that would be yet.
