Natalie Cole's version of "Pink Cadillac" is much better than Bruce Springsteen's, in my opinion.

Best answer: As you move a barred "F" up the neck, it becomes a different chord name. The name of the chord will correspond to the note you're playing on the E string.

To help you visualize this, you should first understand the difference between "chords" and chord "shapes". The first fret F "chord" is really an E "shape" being barred at the first fret. (It's the same as if you were playing an E chord with a capo on the first fret). When you are playing E, the 1st and 6th strings are open E notes, right? When you play a barred F, you're essentially raising the E chord by one fret (or musical half-step) to become F. Coincidentally, the note you're then playing on the E strings becomes F. As you continue sliding "E" up the neck, the name of the chord will be the same as the note you're playing on the E string(s). For instance barring at the 3rd fret gives you a G chord. Moving one fret higher gives you G# and so on until you return to E at the 12th fret. Do you see the power of this? By moving that one chord shape up the neck, you can play *any* major chord! Change the E shape to Em and now you can play any minor chord. Same goes for E7.

But wait! It doesn't stop there. You can apply the same logic to just about any chord shape. The next logical one to learn is A. Since you're now barring an A, shape, the name of the chord corresponds to the note you're playing on the A or 5th string. If you barre an "A" shape at the first fret, you have Bb (113331). On the 3rd fret, it becomes "C". As you move up the neck to the 12th fret, you'll have yet another way to play every major, minor, and 7th chord.

E and A are the most common chord shapes to barre, at least for beginners, but any chord shape using up to 3 fingers can be barred up and down the neck. This gives the player incredible versatility. Welcome to the magic world of barre chords!

For the past several years, I've been downloading music from the internet (mostly youtube) for free. But recently it has come to my attention about the laws, that downloading copyrighted music is illegal. I'm worried about the amount of songs I have in my playlist that could be copyrighted. I would like to know how I can find out which songs I have are copyrighted so I can delete them from my files and purchase proper ones online so I have a legal and legitimate copy and not some illegal one that I downloaded for free of the internet. If anyone can provide some help, then that will be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Should I play the guitar?

Best answer: A nice nylon stringed classical guitar is a great learning instrument. Easy to play while your fingers are toughening up and they sound beautiful. You can get it with an electric pickup or add one later. If you want an electric look at a Fender Squire or Epiphone Les Paul. Go fo it.
